The Williamson Museum’s annual Cattleman’s Ball fundraising gala will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the Sun City Ballroom in Georgetown, TX. We are celebrating the 175th anniversary of Williamson County AND 20 years of the museum being open to the public on the beautiful Georgetown Square. Each year, we recognize an important contributor to Williamson County as our Cattleman’s Ball Honoree. This year, we are thrilled to recognize long-standing residents, Clark Thurmond and Linda Scarbrough, owners of The Williamson County Sun, the county’s oldest newspaper, for their achievements — and their family’s — in journalism and in preserving the history of this county.
As a special treat, our honorary Cattleman’s Ball Co-Chair is Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell. Judge Gravell is a lifelong Williamson County resident, a former Williamson Museum board member, and a person who is passionate about this area and its history. We hope that you can join us! We also hope you’ll consider being a sponsor or underwriter at one of the many levels.
It is the support of generous individuals, businesses, and foundations like yours that allows us to:
• Introduce a new generation of students to the thrill of discovering the
people, places, and stories from our county’s rich history, through vivid,
hands-on experiences like traveling trunks, field trips, and special events!
• Present unique and interesting exhibits and programs both at the
flagship museum and with partners throughout the county!
• Offer fun and engaging public activities like ghost tours, cemetery tours!
• Continue to add artifacts, photographs, oral histories and more to our ever-growing
collections, all available to researchers, archivists, and interested citizens at large!
• Continue offering free admission to the museum and to most of our public events!
